This 'Empress of jazz, blues and cool' will have you in her palm with her powerhouse voice, cheeky charm and magnetic presence on stage. From the Illawarra, stepping out with her duo with Mark Clifford on piano for first time in Canberra at the Yacht club. The bios follow:
Pearl Noire (Black Pearl)-alias Joi is a new face and voice to the Illawarra who hails from the UK and in particular the East London area. She is a vocalist whose voice has been likened to velvet tones and Dark Chocolate on a lovers tongue. Blues Bessie mama and Black magic diva are a few terms also used recently in reviews about her debut CD "Aint all Blues" one review called it ‘note tight’. |

Venue:: Licensed Club ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR TOURING BANDS from Sydney: Its blues to cabarock... from their Aussie flavoured 'blues of opinion' originals to blues/rock 'legend' song classics. You'll enjoy this funky rhythm and blues band, who plays a wide range of crowd grabbing standards, peppered with provocative originals. The Band is made up of seasoned professional performers with innumerable recording and Major Tour credits, the Band has been performing for six years and in that time they have produced 4 CDS and are currently working on the fifth. Finn have performed at almost every major blues festival in Australia and are constantly touring the country. Finn went to Memphis to compete in the IBC in Feb. 2005. The band features: Vocalist/drummer Jim Finn with his fabulous deep resonating voice, SLINKY PETE sits in the pocket on bass, and tasty guitarist Paul Surany is also doing some backing vocals. |

ALI PENNEY AND THE MONEYMAKERS@NATIONAL PRESS CLUB OF AUSTRALIA, 16 National Cct. Barton
Venue:: Licensed Club 2010 Chain Awards "Band of the Year" and Sydney Blues Society 2009 Band of the Year - The Mistress of the Keys is bak in town for another great night at the National Press Club of Australia. Alison is a piano player, vocalist and writer of considerable regard and her experience in the blues is extensive. "She gotta lotta soul" says Andrew Junior Boy Jones. She has opened for an impressive list of legends including Johnnie Johnson, Chris Cain, Lucinda Williams, Cephas And Wiggins, The Tailgaitors and Chris Wilson. She is a professional musician and has been performing, recording, and composing music in bands for over 15 years. These bands also include The Hippos, Fiona Boyes, Lil' Fi, Wayne Jury and Alison Penney Duo, Supro as well as international acts such as Andrew Jones (Freddy King’s guitarist) and Kid Bangham (Fabulous Thunderbirds), Lloyd Jones and Todd Sharpville. She has also recorded with Fiona Boyes. She is also in Vhoom Schwing With Sweet Felicia, Janet Levy and Roscoe Clarke. Lately she has had the great fortune of playing in Chris Mawer's Band. Last year she recorded with those West Coast hipsters, The Vibrolators. She has recently formed her own band Ali Penney and The Money Makers. She has just recorded her 1st album. Her band "Ali Penney and The Money Makers" recently won The Sydney Blues Society Performer of the Year 2009 and as part of the prize was in the International Blues Challenge in January 2010. Alison has played all across Australia and at all sorts of festivals her brand of Blues, Soul and Boogie and she loves New Orleans Music. |
